Weigh the evidence
# What does the evidence actually support?
Get the medicine’s name before weighing a claim about “peptides”. Then ask what was studied, in whom and for which use.
## Approval belongs to a product
An approved medicine has passed a review by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The US approval details here are dated 26 September 2026.
A medicine mixed or prepared by a pharmacy is called compounded; it reaches patients without FDA approval.
No FDA check of that compound’s safety, quality or effects happens before it is sold.
The FDA reviews the named drug for a particular use. A different preparation does not get that approval just because its ingredient matches.
### A code is a different kind of record
Government product listings use an identifying code called the National Drug Code, or NDC.
A listing or code leaves the question of FDA approval unanswered. This US rule is dated 26 September 2026.
Ask the person offering the medicine to show its entry in the approval search below. Match the full name to the offer. Check the form too: a tablet and an injection are different forms.
A picture of an NDC number on a screen or medicine box does not show approval either.
Search official medicine approval records
### A business record is a separate check
A business can appear on the FDA’s register without approval of that business or its drugs. Being on that register is called registration.
Keep the product’s name attached to the claim you are checking.
## Read problem reports with care
The FDA’s public problem reports cannot establish how often harm happens or prove that a medicine caused it.
The report details may not have been medically confirmed.
Ask the doctor or other health professional seeing you how to read a report about that medicine. The report count cannot forecast your own experience.
If the person offering treatment points to a study, ask: did it test this exact medicine for the problem I want help with?
